Chapter Three

Conformity of My Conclusions with the Views of the Three Contemporary Scholars The conclusions I have reached in this book are consistent with the fatwas of the three contemporary scholars—’Abdul ’Azīz ibn ’Abdullāh Ibn Bāz, Muḥammad Nāṣir Ad-Dīn Al-Albāni, and Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ Ibn ’Uthaymīn, may Allāh have mercy on them. As for Al-Albāni, may Allāh have mercy on him, he stated that judging by laws other than what Allāh has revealed does not constitute disbelief unless accompanied by an explicit declaration of permissibility [refer to his fatwa in As-Salafiyyah Magazine, Issue 6, pp. 34–42]. Ibn Baz reviewed Al-Albāni’s fatwa and endorsed it, stating: «فألفيتها كلمة قيمة قد أصاب فيها الحق، وسلك فيها سبيل المؤمنين، وأوضح وفقه الله أنه لا يجوز لأحد من الناس أن يكفر من حكم بغير ما أنزل الله؛ بمجرد الفعل؛ من دون أن يعلم أنه استحل ذلك بقلبه» "I found it to be a valuable and accurate statement, wherein he followed the path of the believers. May Allāh grant him success, he made it clear that no one should declare a person who judges by other than what Allāh has revealed as a disbeliever merely based on their actions, unless it is known that they have deemed it permissible in their heart." [Al-Fatāwā (9/124)]. Al-Albāni's fatwa and Ibn Bāz's commentary were also read to Ibn ’Uthaymīn, may Allāh have mercy on them. He commented on it and agreed, except in the case of general legislation [refer to his comments in The Fitnah of Takfir]. Later, Ibn ’Uthaymīn retracted his contradictory view on this point, as previously mentioned (p. #). I say: This book is in agreement with the last positions held by these contemporary scholars, may Allāh have mercy on them, on this issue. All praise is due to Allāh, in the beginning and the end.
