The Third Case: Denial (At-Takdhīb)
24 August 2024 • 986 views
Description: This refers to ruling by other than what Allāh has revealed while denying Allāh's judgment.
Ruling: There is unanimous agreement that this case constitutes major disbelief (kufr akbar).
Evidence: The consensus among Ahlus-Sunnah that anyone who denies Allāh and His Messenger is considered a disbeliever.
Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:
"It is said to them: if you claim that Ēmān is 'affirmation in the heart, or on the tongue, or both,' does this refer to a general affirmation, or must it be detailed?...If someone affirms that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh but does not recognise the attributes of truth, is he still considered a believer or not?...If they consider him a believer, it is then said: If the truth reaches him and he denies it, he is not a believer by the consensus of Muslims." [Majmū’ Al-Fatāwā (7/152)]
He also said, may Allāh have mercy on him:
"Anyone who denies what the Messengers have brought is a disbeliever." [Majmū’ Al-Fatāwa (2/79)]
