«وأصحاب الحديث لا يرون الصلاة خلف أهل البدع لئلا يراه العامة فيفسدون بذلك» "The people of Hadith do not consider it appropriate to pray behind the people of innovation, so that the common folk do not see this and be led astray by it." [الحجة في بيان المحجة (2/548)] The same reason is applicable here! Many people have been led astray in this affair due to the widespread images they see of scholars and students of knowledge circulating online. If you try to clarify the affair, they will argue, "How can it be impermissible when 'Allāmah Fulan, Mufti Fulan, Sheikh Fulan, and Ustadh Fulan are all doing it?!" There are cases where even we ourselves are doubtful as to the stance of a scholar due to the images we see being circulated online. Is this not the case? Take Sheikh Fawzān for example, how many times do we see brothers debating the Sheikh's stance. He clearly states that he holds tasweer to be impermissible, but the videos and TV programmes we see of the sheikh can easily cause one to be doubtful. If that's the case with Sheikh Fawzan, who is very vocal in forbidding tasweer, what about the regular Taalib?! 5⃣. You are not safe from the camera Some brothers who hold tasweer to be impermissible have attended such gatherings only to find their images circulating online without them even realising. I could provide evidence for this, but I'd rather not embarrass the brothers. 6⃣. There is a better alternative If the class is indispensable, the alternative to attending would be to wait for the video to be released (as I'm sure this is why it's being recorded), and then listen with the screen covered. FINAL NOTE: The prevalence of a prohibited matter does not render it permissible https://t.me/almanhajussalafi/663
