BENEFIT 221: A sign of an innovator

Sheikhul Islām Ibn Taymiyyah raḥimahullāh said:
فلا تجد قط مبتدعاً إلا وهو يحب كِتمان النَّصوصِ التي تخالفه، ويبغضها ويبغض إظهارها وروايتها والتحدث بها، ويبغض من يفعل ذلك، كما قال بعض السلف: (ما ابتدع أحد بدعة إلا نزعت حلاوة الحديث من قلبه).
"You will never find an innovator except that he loves to conceal texts that contradict his views, detesting them, and detesting their revelation, narration, and discussion, as well as those who do so. As some of the Salaf said, "No one introduces an innovation except that the sweetness of ḥadīth is removed from his heart."
