CCTV in Shopping Centres

Question: There is a supermarket which has interior and exterior [CCTV] cameras. I may need to buy something therefrom. What is the ruling on this, and what is your advice? May Allah reward you with goodness. Sheikh Abu Bilal hafidahullah responds: If there are other stores available, I advise you to avoid places with surveillance cameras. Allah has not constrained upon you, and if the difference in price is minor, such as around five hundred (Yemeni Riyals), then do not enter places where cameras are present. Allah has not limited us to these stores filled with cameras. In Yemen, for example, you can find small shops with items that might not be available in larger ones, often at reasonable prices. Therefore, I do not recommend entering such places unless there is a pressing need and the item you require is only available in that specific store. In such a case, the sin is on those who installed the cameras, and you are blameless if you enter reluctantly. If you have alternatives, do not frequent these places. @almanhajussalafi
