Sheikh Fawzān's advice ḥafidhahullāh

“Some brothers, may Allāh forgive them, may have something against another or hatred towards one of the students of knowledge or one of the scholars, so they ask you a question that you answer. They then take that answer and apply it on that person making it seem like that's who you intended. They say so-and-so said such-and-such about so-and-so, while you did not happen to mention so-and-so. Your intent was merely to answer a question. But they make it appear as though you intended so-and-so. [They say] he intended so-and-so, they dub tapes and author books confirming that so-and-so said such-and-such about so-and-so, and he responded with such-and-such, intending by that such-and-such and such-and-such, seeking to cause corruption among people, to stir up students of knowledge and create enmity between them. We warn you and ask Allāh to protect you from this trait. Do not be deceived or fooled by this. Be very careful of them. Yes.” See example ⤵️
