Sheikh Ṣāliḥ Al Fawzān said: “Salafiyyah is the saved sect and they are Ahlus-Sunnah Wal Jamā’ah and not a sect from the sects that are known as sects today.” Sheikh Bakr Abū Zaid said: “Be a serious Salafi, upon the way of the pious predecessors from the companions (may Allāh be pleased with them) and those after them. From those who sufficed with their narrations in all the matters of the religion in Tawḥīd, worship and other than it…” Sheikh Muḥammad Ibn Ṣāliḥ Al-’Uthaimīn in commenting upon this said: “This is from the most important matters. That a person is upon the way of the Salaf us Salih (pious predecessors) in all matters of the religion; in Tawheed, in worship, his daily dealings and other than it.” Therefore, to posit that the word Salafi was innovated recently is simply preposterous and contradictory to the Historical facts.
