BENEFIT 141: Can someone be removed from Salafiyyah based on a fiqhi issue?

Sheikh Yūsuf Al-Jazaa’iri hafidahullāh said:
"Sheikh Rabee' included the issue of free-mixing among the fundamental principles violated by Abul Hasan, due to his stubbornness in this; because stubbornness takes the issue out of being purely fiqhi. Rather, Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah raḥimahullāh as mentioned in Majmu' al-Fatawa, stated that a person may be removed from the fold of Ahlul-Sunnah if he pledges allegiance and disavowal on a fiqhi issue, and he gave an example of this by citing the issue of the different adhans. He said if someone pledged allegiance and disavowal based on this such that he has enmity for whoever opposed him solely on this issue, he would be amongst those who divided their religion and became sects.
So, what has occurred from Farkoos, in terms of pledging allegiance on the issue of free-mixing and vehemently rejecting advice in this matter is a grave mistake. Furthermore, he accuses the advisors of lacking ethical and religious values, among other things, and he strongly advocates for, authors books in defence of, and invites others to this. So the ruling changes. The ruling is different for someone who insists and stubbornly opposes [the truth] after being advised. Did Sheikh Ibn Baz, for example, ever make a mistake in an issue and stubbornly oppose it? Do you have any example of this from any of the Salaf? If you have, then benefit me. Or is the case that they make mistakes, are corrected, and they return/rectify?...The situation of Farkoos is different from the aforementioned. We are not speaking about the mistakes of scholars; scholars make mistakes, they are human. But the blame lies with those who err, oppose, and persist even after clarification. Allah Almighty says:
{ومن يشاقق الرسول من بعد ما تبين له الهدى ويتبع غير سبيل المؤمنين نوله ما تولى ونصله جهنم وساءت مصيرا}
"And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will leave him to what he has chosen and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination."
