Sheikh Yūsuf Al-Jazaa’iri hafidahullāh said:
"...If it is established that this is not an issue of ijtihād, based on the previous criterion, this means that opposition in this matter after clarification is harmful. That is why you find Sheikh Rabee' mentioning from the oppositions of Abul Hasan against the Salafi principles the issue of free-mixing. He said: "...and your stubbornness in the issue of free-mixing, as well as the issue of shaving the beard and other issues." Why did he include these matters? Due to his stubbornness. And you are aware that when Ibn Umar, may Allāh be pleased with him, saw his son flinging pebbles, he forbade him from that [based on the prohibition of the Prophet ﷺ (agreed upon)]. But when he saw him doing it on another occasion, he boycotted him - due to his stubbornness."
