'Abdullāh ibn Amr ibn al-'As reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: "Successful is he who has accepted Islam, has sufficient provision and is made content with what Allah has given him." [Sahih Muslim, 1054] What is sufficient provision? Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'The human does not fill any container that is worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat what will support his back. If this is not possible, then a third for food, a third for drink, and third for his breath." [Jami` at-Tirmidhi, 2380 - graded Hasan by Ibn hajar in Al-Fat-h]
