BENEFIT 122: Concerning the hadith: ((خلاف أمتي رحمة))

Sheikh Yūsuf Gharāmah ḥafidhahullāh said: ‟As for the hadith, "the disagreement of my nation is a mercy," this is a hadith that cannot be deemed weak or fabricated; rather, it has no basis! Sheikh Al-Albani, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "The researchers exerted effort to trace a basis or chain for this hadith, but they did not succeed." Al-Munāwi reported from As-Subuki that he said: "I have not come across a weak chain of narration nor fabricated chain for this hadith." As-Suyūṭi stated: "Perhaps the chain of this hadith is mentioned in books that have been lost and have not reached us." Sheikh Al-Albani responded to him saying: "This opens the door to evil." Meaning, whenever someone wants to support falsehood, they may claim that the evidence for it is found in lost books!
