BENEFIT 118: It's not appropriate for one who claims to be Salafi to lead Taraaweeh in a non-Salafi masjid, especially if he is not going to be calling them to

Sheikh Muqbil Al-Wadi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: «فعلى هذا فإن استطعت أن تنحّيه وتصلي أو يصلى رجل سنيّ فعلت، وإن لم تستطع فننصح بالصلاة في مسجد آخر من مساجد السنة، فإن لم تستطيعوا، وكان لديكم المقدرة على بناء مسجد فالأفضل أن تبنوا لكم مسجدًا، حتى تستطيعوا أن تقيموا سنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم. ولن تقام سنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم إلا بالتميّز، فإذا لم يتيسر لا ذا، ولا ذاك أي: لم تستطع أن تؤخره، وتخشى من حدوث فتنة، ولم يكن هناك مسجد سنة آخر، ولم تستطع أن تبني لك مسجدًا، فإن كانت بدعته لا تصل به إلى الكفر فالصلاة صحيحة، لأنّ النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم يقول:((صلّوا فإن أصابوا فلكم ولهم، وإن أخطئوا فلكم وعليهم))». "Thus, if you are able to remove him (the innovator) from being the imam, or if a man from Ahlus-Sunnah can lead the prayer, then do so. But if you cannot, then we advise you to pray in another masjid from the masjids of Ahlus-Sunnah. If you cannot do that and you have the ability to build a masjid, then it is better for you to build a masjid for yourselves so that you can establish the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family; because the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, will only be established through distinction (التميّز). If neither this nor that is possible, meaning you cannot delay the prayer, you fear the occurrence of fitnah, or there is no other Sunni masjid and you cannot build one, then if his innovation does not reach the level of disbelief, the prayer is valid. That is because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: 'Pray, for if they do right, then it is for you and for them. If they do wrong, then it is for you and against them." [Tuhfat al-Mujib 'ala As'ilat al-Hadir wa al-Gharib, p. 85] He also said (same source as above, page 117): «وأنصح الإخوة السلفيين أن يبتعدوا عن هؤلاء الحزبيين، لأنّهم لا يريدون إلا تكثير سواد حزبهم». "I advise the Salafi brothers to distance themselves from these Hizbi individuals, as they only seek to increase the ranks of their party." And he said rahimahullah: «فننصح أهل السنة كلهم أن يتميزوا في صلاة العيدين ، وفي الجمعة ، وفي سائر الصلوات ، وفي المسجد ، وفي غيرها لا بد من التميز ، وبعد ذلك إن شاء الله بإذن الله تعالى سيأتي المصلون إذا اخترتم الخطيب المستفيد الذي يفيد الناس ، ويكون لديه حكمة ، سيأتي المصلون بإذن الله تعالى ويصلون عندكم ، ويتركون ذلكم الصوفي». "We advise all the people of the Sunnah to distinguish themselves in the Eid prayers, Friday prayers, and all other prayers, whether in the masjid or elsewhere. Distinguishing oneself is necessary. After that, inshaAllah, with the permission of Allah the Exalted, the worshippers will come if you choose a beneficial preacher who benefits the people and possesses wisdom.
