BENEFIT 93: What is Wahhābiyyah?

“ "Wahhābiyyah" is a term used by the enemies of Sheikh Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhāb -raḥimahullāh- in reference to his da'wah; which is a da'wah that calls to purifying Tawḥīd (monotheism) from all forms of Shirk (polytheism) and renouncing all paths other than the path of (Prophet) Muḥammad lbn 'Abdillāh ﷺ. And although their motive was to alienate his da'wah and obstruct people from accepting it, in reality, it did not affect his da'wah in the least. In fact, it had the opposite effect; the da'wah flourished and spread further across the globe and began to attract people's attention; whom by Allāh's guidance sought to learn more about the essence of this da'wah, its objectives and the evidences from the Qur'ān and authentic Sunnah which it stands on.
