VERIFY BEFORE YOU SHARE || Narration #1

It was shared online that ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib رضي الله عنه supposedly said: “The best of your women is the one who is pleasant in fragrance, excellent in cooking; when she spends, she spends moderately, and when she withholds, she withholds moderately. Such a woman is among the workers of Allāh, and the worker of Allāh will never fail.” [Bahjat al-Majālis (33–34)] ——— Source Investigation Upon investigation, this narration appears to originate from Al-Kāfī, one of the major books relied upon by the Rāfiḍah. It can be found in: Al-Kāfī, Book 3, Volume 5, Chapter 4, Narration 6. This tracing of the report indicates that it is without a sanad — therefore it does not have an authentic chain establishing it from ʿAlī رضي الله عنه. Verdict ❌ Fabricated. ❌ It is not permissible to attribute these words to ʿAlī رضي الله عنه without proof. ❌ The narration should not be circulated as an established statement of ʿAlī رضي الله عنه. ——— Relevant Statement ʿĀmir al-Shaʿbī رحمه الله said: “No one in this Ummah has been lied against as much as ʿAlī رضي الله عنه was.” [Reported by al-Ājurrī in Al-Sharīʿah (2021) and al-Bayhaqī in Al-Madkhal (80), with a ṣaḥīḥ isnād.] Meaning: Many fabricated reports have been falsely attributed to ʿAlī رضي الله عنه throughout history. This is especially evident given that one of the earliest deviant sects to appear in Islām was the Rāfiḍah, making verification especially important whenever a narration is attributed to him. ——— Point of Benefit A narration can often be assessed for authenticity through two key factors: • The soundness of its meaning • The authenticity of its sanad (chain) Both should be established before sharing religious material. This narration states: “The best of your women is the one who is… excellent in cooking.” This is not something established in the Qurʾān or Sunnah as a measure of a woman’s virtue, which raises concern that the wording reflects cultural norms rather than being wording reliably transmitted. Share What You Learn The brother was advised regarding this matter and subsequently posted the following clarification on his channel: السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته A few days ago, I shared a post quoting from 'Ali bin Abi Talib رضي الله عنه, describing the best of women. Unfortunately, some noble brothers (May Allah bless them) informed me that the narration is not authentic as it lacks a chain of transmission. As a result, I deleted the post and kindly ask everyone who saw it to also delete it and inform those they shared it with. The lesson here is to verify every post we share, especially those attributed to 'Ali رضي الله عنه, as many of them are fabrications by Shi'a sources. بارك الله فيكم. https://t.me/awakenedmuslimah Source: https://t.me/MarkazAbuHurayrah/1730
