Abū Bakr Al-Ājurrī (D. 360H) reported in "Ash-Sharī’ah" with a good chain:
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ؛ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَصْبَغِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْحَرَّانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ , عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ , عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ: إِذَا لَقِيتَ صَاحِبَ بِدْعَةٍ فِي طَرِيقٍ فَخُذْ فِي غَيْرِهِ.
Abū Bakr Ja’far ibn Muḥammad Al-Firyābi told us; He said: Abul Aṣbagh ’Abdul ’Azīz ibn Yaḥyā Al-Ḥarrāni told us; he said: Abū Is-ḥāq Al-Fazāri told us, on the authority of Al-Awzā’ē, on the authority of Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr that he said: If you encounter a person of innovation on one path, take another path.
