Doubt: The students of Dammaj are very harsh and critical of others

Question: We hear from some young people who love khayr that the students of Dammaj are harsh and that they criticise others. We hope you can clarify this, especially since this issue has prevented some of these young people from cooperating with the callers to Ahlus-Sunnah. Sheikh Yahya hafidhahullah: By Allah, my brother, this is injustice. First: we are not infallible, and the students of Dammaj are not infallible. Allah said (in a Hadith Qudsi): "You make mistakes—day and night, and I forgive all sins, so seek My forgiveness and I will forgive you”. Included under this meaning is that other hadith that says: "Every son of Adam is a sinner, and the best of those who sin are those who repent." There are different types of (students): there is the beginner, the one who is heedless, the new student, and the one who needs teaching, advice, and guidance from good-doers, a sincere adviser, or a teacher. This exists. Essentially, not everyone who comes to the Da'wah is on the same level. People are not all on one line, all entering at the same time and receiving the same level of understanding and benefit. Some come today, others tomorrow, others after tomorrow. It is not continuous in the same way for everyone. When one group leaves, others come. The new ones who come require new cultivation, teaching, and guidance. This is the way of Allah in His creation. Second: good manners and noble character among Ahlus-Sunnah—I am not saying only with those in Dammaj—rather all of Ahlus-Sunnah worship Allah through good character, as a religious obligation—not as an act of benevolence. This includes fulfilling: the rights of neighbours, parents, and brothers. They practice this as a religious obligation, not just by choice. Third: students of knowledge do have good, and they study and strive. They are among the best people in goodness. Even if they sometimes make mistakes, when they are reminded, they accept advice. Allah has praised those who benefit from reminders: “So remind, for indeed the reminder benefits the believers.” We consider them, by Allah’s will, among the righteous. Constrastingly, Allah criticised the disbelievers who don't take heed when they are reminded. Another point: bear in mind that the people of truth are often wronged. Many false accusations are made against them, and things are said about them that have no basis. For example, the one speaking to you (myself) have been accused of insulting the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This implies that they have indirectly declared me a disbeliever. So when you ask them, “Is Hajoori a Muslim or a disbeliever?” they say, “He is a Muslim.” Okay, but he insults the Prophet? They say, “Yes, he insulted the Prophet, but he is still a Muslim.” This is a contradiction! By Allah, if this was true, I would declare takfir upon myself, without the need for others to do so. Allah says: “Was it Allah, His verses, and His Messenger that you were mocking? Do not offer excuses. You have disbelieved after your belief...” There are many evidences, but the sad thing is how they try to weaken the da'wah and its people. How do they try to make themselves appear correct while hiding the truth of Ahlus-Sunnah. "But Allah will complete His light." They were not capable of doing so. I say it clearly, I have mentioned this example before; the example of Ahlus-Sunnah is like that of the story of the boy and the magician and the monk. They took him to the top of the mountain in order to kill him, but when the reached the top, the boy supplicated, “O Allah, suffice me against them however You will,” and they were destroyed, while he returned safely. Then they said: “Take him on a boat and when you reach the middle of the sea cast him from it.” He boarded with them, and when they reached the middle of the sea and they wanted to throw him off, again he supplicated, “O Allah, suffice me against them however You will,” and they were drowned, while he returned safely.
