Benefits: 1:30 - A scholar may change the topic of a lesson or lecture if another topic would bring greater benefit. Here Sheikh Salih As-Sindi had intended to speak about a different subject, but he agreed to the students’ request and spoke about this topic instead. 3:00 – Speaking about the biographies of scholars has a positive effect on students. It allows them to take lessons from their lives, follow their guidance, and adopt their character, as Allah said: {واتبع سبيل من أناب إلي} – “Follow the path of those who turn to Me.” 4:00 – Speaking about their biographies is also part of fulfilling their right upon us: يقبح منكم أن تستفيدوا منا وتذكروننا ولا تترحمون علينا “It would be shameful if you benefitted from us but did not remember us or ask Allah to have mercy on us.” So when we speak about them, we spread their good mention and make duʿā for them. 4:52 – Shaykh Muhammad Aman Al-Jami is among the contemporary scholars who were spoken about unjustly the most. Some even attributed an entire sect to him (Al-Jamiyyah). Because of this, the need to speak about him and clarify his virtue is even greater. ʿĀʾishah said about Abu Bakr and ʿUmar when she was told people were speaking badly about them: قد انقطعت أعمالهم ولعل الله أراد ألا ينقطع أجرهم “Their deeds have ended, but perhaps Allah wanted their reward not to end.” Perhaps something similar applies to the Shaykh. 7:50 – I was not among his closest students nor the most devoted to him. Often a person only realises the true value of a blessing after it is gone. But I praise Allah that I benefitted from him for a good period while I was young, learning from his knowledge, manners, and advice. 8:50 – He was both a teacher and a father at the same time… [the speaker becomes emotional] 9:50 – His knowledge and teaching He was highly distinguished in ʿaqīdah, and he was also strong in other sciences such as fiqh and Arabic. He was one of the longest-serving teachers in Masjid al-Nabawi, teaching there for decades. He also held lessons in his home and in his local mosque. He truly dedicated himself to teaching the people and would often teach multiple lessons in Masjid al-Nabawi in a single day. 12:18 – He used to explain lessons in a simple and clear manner without making them difficult, always taking into account the level of the students and the nature of the book being studied.
