What is your opinion about the books of Sayyid Qutb?
Sheikh Sa'd Al-Khathlan:
Sayyid Qutb’s books contain mistakes and deviations. Among them are deviations in matters of creed. For example, he denied the attribute of Istiwā’ (Allah rising over the Throne) and explained it as dominion or control over the Throne. This goes against the belief of the righteous early generations (the Salaf), who affirmed the attribute of Istiwā’ for Allah in a manner that befits His majesty.
Another example is that he rejected some hadiths found in Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, such as the hadith about the Prophet ﷺ being affected by magic.
He also spoke critically about some of the Companions of the Prophet. There are other mistakes and deviations as well.
Because of this, I warn the general public against reading his books. There are many other reliable books available that are sufficient instead, inshaAllah.
