As for those who are upon the Sunnah, from the scholars of the sunnah, and they make ijtihad and err in that, we ask Allah to pardon them. As for Ibrahim [Ar-Ruḥaili], then his foundation is similar to that group. His authoring of that book indicates that he is taking from the same fountain as Abul-Hasan and Al-Halabi... As for this one (Sheikh Sulaymān Ar-Ruḥaili), you sense from him that he has jealousy [for Salafiyyah]. And whoever has more knowledge concerning him, should benefit us. I don't know more than this.
