We consider ourselves among those with little knowledge. Our situation is as the poet said: “When the lands were empty, I became their leader—though not truly f

Salih Al-Maghamsi has many deviations. What led us to speak about him tonight—although, praise be to Allah, I already wrote a treatise about him in Makkah (may Allah protect it and all Muslim lands) around the year 1437 or 1438 AH, and we have spoken about him more than once—is that the man pretends to be a scholar. He is influenced by rationalism, Sufism, partisanship, and Westernised ideas. He is a hotspot for many destructive thoughts.
He used to be the khatib at masjid Quba, but Allah removed him from that position because of his bad condition and harmful actions. He once posted a tweet hinting that extremist “takfiri & suroori” prisoners in Saudi prisons should be released. After that, he was removed from his post, because wrongdoers tend to support one another.
Those who were in Saudi prisons had planned a revolution some years back and had set a date for it—September 15. On that night, partisan satellite channels and khalafi websites were praising what they claimed would happen in Riyadh, similar to the uprisings that took place in Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and other countries. In those places, rulers were removed, and Muslim lands were struck with humiliation, hardship, and widespread evil—except where Allah showed mercy.
On that same night, Sa'd Al-Faqih, Muhammad Surur Zayn Al-Abidin (before his death), and others among the extremists living in Britain spoke publicly. Allah granted success to the Saudi government—may Allah protect it upon pure monotheism, the Sunnah, knowledge, and faith—by arresting the leaders of these Khawarij, such as Salman Al-Awda, Safar Al-Hawali, and At-Tarifi. Before them, Khalid Ar-Rashid and many partisan preachers and callers to unrest had been imprisoned. They had issued religious rulings encouraging rebellion in Yemen. They encouraged Syrians to rise up—even if half the population were to perish—and half the population indeed fled the country. They encouraged Egyptians to revolt against Hosni Mubarak, and Libyans to revolt against Gaddafi. They were a source of evil. Yet he now weeps over them, so he was removed from his position—praise be to Allah.
However, he still appears widely on television channels and radio. He deceives listeners with his quick tears and sweet speech, which ordinary people may not fully understand, causing confusion. I heard him once say, in meaning, “I do not accept evidence until I present it to reason and see what reason says about it,” meaning that he gives priority to intellect over revelation.
In a television interview on the night of the 17th of Ramadan, 1444 AH, as widely shared on Twitter and elsewhere, he said: “Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) is a human product and must be reviewed. I hope that Allah will allow me to establish a new Islamic madh-hab.”
First, we say: forming madh-habs as an obligatory duty is not something Allah commanded, nor His Messenger, nor the Companions, nor the great leading scholars. When we look at the Book of our Lord, Allah says: “Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow protectors besides Him.” When we look at the Sunnah, the Messenger of Allah said: “Hold firmly to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs.
