BENEFIT 510: Is It Permissible for Women to Continue Studying Under a Salafi Teacher if Her Husband Leaves Salafiyyah?

Question: We are studying under a virtuous Salafi female da‘iyah who sought knowledge since the days of Dammaj, then later in Al-Hami. She has much goodness, but she married a shaykh who was from Ahlus-Sunnah, then afterwards he deviated Allaah is the one sought for help. In the neighbouring village, there is another female da‘iyah. I asked her: “Do you have a lecture by the da‘iyah who is with us?” She replied: “We will not allow her to give a lecture.” I don’t know if it is this according to the Sharī‘ah, or is it due to malice and envy, since the da‘iyah whose husband deviated has acceptance and love from the people? I was surprised, because every person is responsible for their own deeds and efforts, and will be held accountable individually. And this is a test from Allaah Almighty He tested Āsiyah, the believing wife of Fir'awn, by Pharaoh the disbeliever. And this da‘iyah with us has much goodness, she is firm upon the Book and the Sunnah, and we see nothing but good from her. So is what I’m saying correct? Or is she to be boycotted even though she is Salafī and upon the Sunnah, because of her husband? Shaykh Abul-Yamān ’Adnān Al-Maṣqari: And this is a long question which can be summarised that a Salafi woman studied in Dammaj and in Al-Hami and married a Salafi man, then he changed and deviated. So now, should knowledge be taken from her? The answer: If this wife is still Salafi and upon goodness and steadfastness, then yes cooperate with her, encourage her, seek knowledge from her, and invite her to lectures. You will be rewarded for that, and it is a form of cooperation. She is a poor and weak wife, we ask Allāh to keep her firm. But if she has been influenced by her husband if she has been affected by her husband’s doubts, become soft toward him, inclined to him, and defend her husband and those who have deviated then leave her until Allāh guides her, and advise her, but do not take benefit from her.
