Defend Yourself Against False Accusations
Sheikh ’Uthaymeen raḥimahullāh said:
A person must defend himself if he is accused of something he is not guilty of. He should not say, “Let those who accuse me be; Allāh, the Almighty, will hold them accountable.” No! And in the ḥadīth: “May Allāh have mercy on the person who repels backbiting from himself(1).”

(1) The Sheikh clarified that this ḥadīth is weak in terms of its chain of transmission and wording, however, its meaning is correct. [https://www.alathar.net/home/esound/index.php?op=codevi&coid=119085]
