BENEFIT: Though Allāh Is Not Seen in This Life, The Believers Will Surely See Him in the Hereafter

Imam Al-Baghawi rahimahullah explained:
"...The meaning of the Āyah is rather: “You shall not see Me in this worldly life, or at this moment,” for [Musa] was asking for the vision of Allāh in the present. The particle lan does not necessarily signify everlasting negation, as in His saying, “They will never wish for it (death), ever” (Qur’an 2:95), in reference to the Jews. Yet He later informed us that they will, in fact, wish for death in the Hereafter, saying: “They will cry, ‘O Mālik, let your Lord finish us off!’” (Qur’an 43:77), and: “Would that it had been the decisive end!” (Qur’an 69:27). The evidence for this [interpretation] is that Allah did not ascribe ignorance to [Musa] for asking to see Him, nor did He say: “I can never be seen,” which would have given [the deniers] proof for their claim. Instead, He suspended the possibility of vision on the stability of the mountain, and the mountain’s stability upon His Self-disclosure is not impossible if Allāh, Exalted is He, were to grant it such power. That which is made contingent upon something not inherently impossible cannot itself be deemed impossible." [Tafsir Al-Baghawi]
As-Sa‘di rahimahullah adds:
“There is no proof in this Āyah that the believers will not see Him in Paradise, for the Qur’anic texts and Prophetic hadiths clearly affirm that the people of Paradise will behold their Lord, Blessed and Exalted, and will find delight in gazing upon His noble Face. He will grant them a perfected state of being, through which they will be able to behold Allāh, Exalted is He.”
