BENEFIT 486: Addressing the Fallacy: Don’t Warn Reverts, They Might Apostate

Sheikh Abdulḥamīd Az-Zu'kari hafidahullāh said: "Whoever is Hizbi, then we refer to him as such. We say this from the pulpit and we say it in WhatsApp messages; we say it both privately and publicly. And if someone comes and says, "You may be causing someone new to Islam to be led astray because of your speech"—I say, am I the one who led him astray? Was it I who caused his fitnah? At the same time, I don't tell you to go to those who have testified that there is no diety worthy of worship but Allāh and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; that you go to those who have newly embraced Islam and expose them to fitnah — [if you do so,] you are the one who exposed them, not me. Praise be to Allāh, we begin by teaching ‘aqeedah, teaching tawheed, teaching the religion, endearing the Sunnah and knowledge to people. If the matter reaches a point where we must warn against someone promoting falsehood, then it becomes necessary to do so. Then someone may come and say, "I left Islam because of the disputes among you. I saw that the Christians were united." This is someone whom Allāh has turned away. How can he say the Christians are united, while in fact they are divergent sects? This is ignorance. Let no one deceive us with such arguments, which often come from those who want to mix truth with falsehood. I am giving you sincere advice: Salafiyyah, Salafiyyah—in the centres, in the homes, on the road, during Hajj, during Umrah, wherever it may be.
