Sixth: A Key Jurisprudential Principle
When two harms conflict, the greater harm is avoided by committing the lesser. This does not mean: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Rather, we assess which is closer to Islam and which poses a greater threat to the Ummah.
According to the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah: The Rafidah are more dangerous to Ahlus-Sunnah than the Jews, because they corrupt creed and religion, violate honor, and seize lands.
Summary of the Legal Position:
-> Iran's conflict with Israel: Neither side is to be supported.
-> Supplication should be made for the destruction of both oppressors.
-> Rejoicing at the defeat of one party and the weakening of the other is permissible if it brings benefit to the Muslim Ummah.
-> Forming alliances with either side against the other is impermissible—whether with Iran or with Israel.
-> The stance of Sunni populations: Caution must be exercised to avoid being deceived by Rafidi resistance slogans or Zionist-Jewish alliances.
Conclusion:
We neither support Iran nor support Israel. Rather, we advise the Ummah and warn them of both, while working to build our own strength as Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah. We ask Allah to destroy the oppressors by means of each other and to grant Ahl al-Sunnah safety and victory.
Allāh the Most High says: {And thus We make some of the wrongdoers allies of others because of what they used to earn.} [Surah Al-An‘am, 6:129]
And Allāh knows best and is Most Wise.
