He says: What is your opinion of those who claim that books of refutations harden the hearts? Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan hafidahullah: No, abandoning refutations is what hardens the hearts. This is because people live upon error and misguidance, which causes their hearts to harden(1). But when the truth is clarified and falsehood is refuted, this—without a doubt—is among the things that soften hearts. _ (1) Mistakes made by scholars and students of knowledge are especially deserving of clarification, given their significant and far-reaching impact.
