BENEFIT: Placing flowers on the graves?

Shaykh Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book "Ahkam al-Jana'iz wa Bida'uha" (The Rules of Funerals and Their Innovations), page 300: "It is not prescribed to place basil or similar fragrant plants and flowers on graves, because this was not something done by the righteous predecessors (al-salaf). And if it had been good, they would have preceded us in doing it. Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said: 'Every innovation is misguidance, even if people see it as something good."
