BENEFIT 409: The Consequences of Supporting Wrongdoers

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: "Whoever supports the criminals among the oppressors in their injustice, or the people of whims and innovations in their desires and innovations, or the people of immorality and lusts in their debauchery and passions—seeking to spare himself the pain of their harm—will suffer, both in the short and long term, a pain from siding with them far greater than what he attempted to escape. And it is Allāh's way with His creation that He punishes such individuals at the hands of those whom they aided and supported. Conversely, if one endures the hardship of opposing and distancing himself from them, he will be rewarded with a pleasure, both immediate and lasting, that far surpasses the fleeting pleasure of conformity, many times over."
