A perverse Barmaki wrote some poetry lines in praise of Abdulaziz Al-Bura’ee:

سجل شموخك واقفًا أو جالسا في كل حال قد أخذت شموخا Record your pride, whether standing or seated, In all circumstances, you remain dignified. لم تُنتَقص عند الجلوس وإنما ما زدت إلا بالجلوس رسوخا You have not been diminished by sitting; rather, Sitting has only deepened your steadfastness." I responded to him, correcting his error ⤵️ (النبل والقوس على البرمكي المنكوس) سجل خنوعك للروافض نادما فمتى الخنوع إلى العدو شموخا "Record your submission to the Rafidah in regret, For when has submission to the enemy ever been dignity? سجل وفاخر فالعوام تنزهوا عن فعل شيخك حائرا Record and boast, for the common people have distanced themselves. From the deeds of your Sheikh, left bewildered and distorted. لو كان يمشي عزة خيرا له ما صار فيهم نعجة أوذيخا Had he walked away with honour, it would have been better for him, Instead, he became among them a sheep or a mere pawn. أين الوثيقة والمداهن والولي كنتم لهم ضد الأُلى صاروخا Where is the covenant, the flatterer, and the ruler? You once opposed them, but now you are their shield. أف لكم فيكم عنادٌ قاتلٌ ضد الحقائق لم يزل منفوخا Woe unto you! Your stubbornness is fatal— Always inflating falsehood against the truth. الحر يلدغ مرة لا غيرها وشيوخ حزبك سودوا التاريخا A free man is only deceived once, But the leaders of your party have blackened history. ياليت شعري ليتكم تتفكروا يكفي الجدار تصدعا وشروخا Oh, how I wish you would reflect!
