"Hashish is akin to excrement, whereas alcohol is akin to urine. Both are among the impurities forbidden by Allāh and His Messenger. If a person is found consuming hashish, he is akin to one found drinking alcohol—or even worse in certain aspects." He further stated (vol. "Hashish is more harmful than alcohol in that it severely damages intellect and temperament, leading to effeminacy, shamelessness, and other forms of corruption. On the other hand, alcohol is worse in that it incites disputes and fights. However, both divert one from the remembrance of Allāh and from prayer." Regarding those who persist in consuming hashish and deem its intoxicating effects permissible, he stated (vol. 23, p. 357): فإن مثل هذا ينبغي أن يستتاب، فإن تاب وإلا قتل؛ إذ السكر منها حرام بالإجماع، واستحلال ذلك كفر بلا نزاع "Such a person should be called to repent. If he repents, he is forgiven; otherwise, he should be executed, as consuming intoxicants is unanimously prohibited, and declaring it lawful constitutes disbelief without dispute." The esteemed scholar Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Āl Ash-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Najd and Hijaz, and a stalwart of the Sunnah in his time (may Allāh have mercy on him), stated in Fatawa wa Rasā'il (vol. 12, p. 72): الحشيشة أخبث من الخمر وأشد، وهي شيء ناشف، وفيه من الضرر غير الضرر الديني شيء عظيم، حتى يجن وتذهب باءته، وغير ذلك "Hashish is worse and more severe than alcohol. It is a solid substance that causes great harm beyond just religious corruption—it can lead to insanity and a complete loss of virility, among other devastating effects." He further stated (vol. 12, p. 200): الأفيون أعظم من الخمر من ناحية، وأعظم من السم من ناحية أخرى "Opium is worse than alcohol in one respect and worse than poison in another." Another basis for its prohibition is its evident and numerous harms—affecting the consumer's religion, intellect, body, time, wealth, reputation, social status, family, and surrounding community. The Prophet ﷺ stated: ((لا ضرر ولا ضرار)) "There should be neither harm nor reciprocation of harm." Scholars, both past and present, have unanimously agreed on the prohibition of hashish, and they have likewise unanimously declared the prohibition of narcotics since their emergence. There is no disagreement on this matter, all praise be to Allāh. Since the consumption of such substances is prohibited, their sale and purchase are also unequivocally forbidden. The Prophet ﷺ stated: ((إن الله إذا حرَّم شيئًا حرَّم ثمنه)) "Indeed, when Allāh prohibits something, He also prohibits its price." The scholar Ash-Shinqiti (may Allāh have mercy on him) stated in Adwa' Al-Bayan (vol. "Allah's command in the Āyah regarding intoxicants—'So avoid it'—necessitates complete avoidance, such that no benefit can be derived from them in any way whatsoever, as mentioned by Al-Qurtubi and others." Additionally, it was narrated by At-Tirmidhi (1295) from Anas ibn Malik (may Allāh be pleased with him) that: «لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وعلى ٱله وسلم في الخمر عشرة: عاصرها، ومعتصرها، وشاربها، وحاملها، والمحمولة إليه، وساقيها، وبائعها، وآكل ثمنها، والمشتري لها، والمشتراة له».
