BENEFIT 397: The Practice of Congregational Du'a After Salat Al-Janazah is an Innovation

Presenter: Some of the imams among us, after concluding the funeral prayer, remain standing and supplicate, with the people joining them in supplication. What is the ruling on this practice? Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah: This practice has no basis; it is an innovation with no basis. Once the people have conclude the prayer, the funeral prayer concludes, and so does the supplication. Standing after the conclusion of the prayer to supplicate along with the people has no basis, to the best of our knowledge; rather, it is an innovation.
