BENEFIT 391: Why Is There Infighting Among Salafis?

26 March 2025 • 1.44K views
There are several reasons, but one of the main causes is excessive attachment to personalities. What does this mean? Some individuals, may Allāh guide them, become so attached to certain individuals that when these individuals deviate from the Salafi methodology—which may happen—they struggle to distance themselves. Rather than acknowledging their errors and siding with those who refute them, they go to great lengths to defend and justify the indefensible. This is what often leads to divisions among Salafis. Examples: -> Despite the numerous deviations of the Ikhwanis, people like Abul Hasan Al-Ma‘ribi persisted in defending them, even to the point of introducing new principles to justify their errors. -> Due to his misguidance, Abul Hasan was rightly deemed an innovator by the scholars. Yet, instead of accepting this, individuals like Ali Al-Halabi came to his defense and, like his predecessor, began innovating new principles. -> A more recent example is Uthman Al-Khamees’s defense of Abu Ishaq Al-Huwayni, may Allāh guide him. Allāh ﷻ warned us against this when He said: ﴿وَلَا تُجَـٰدِلۡ عَنِ ٱلَّذِینَ یَخۡتَانُونَ أَنفُسَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱلله لَا یُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ خَوَّانًا أَثِیمࣰا﴾ "And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Verily, Allāh does not like anyone who is a betrayer, sinner." [Surah An-Nisa’ 4:107] Related benefit ⤵️ https://t.me/almanhajussalafi/1558
