Errors and Violations for Which Ali Al-Halabi was Declared an Innovator

Among the errors and deviations for which scholars have deemed him an innovator are the following:
1⃣. His Strong Defense of the Amman Message
-> He persistently defended the treatise in several of his books and recordings, despite its serious violations.
-> The Message promotes:
1. Unity of religions
2. Interfaith brotherhood
3. Religious freedom,
4. Equality between religions
5. Rapprochement between sects
6. Freedom of thought
7. Democracy
Halabi's praise for this Message:
"The Amman Message, which was pioneering in explaining the true and moderate message of Islam—launched by His Majesty (may Allāh protect and preserve him) more than a year ago—serves as strong evidence and clear proof of his deep pride in this religion and its purity, as well as his appreciation for its beauty and integrity and his dedication to its advancement and preservation."
DOUBT: Al-Halabi claimed that his praise for the Amman Message was general and did not imply approval of every word within it.
However, this assertion is refuted through several points:
1. The core message and content of the document is based on establishing a common ground between different religions. Al-Halabi regarded this message as an explanation of Islam’s emphasis on moderation. Thus, the concept of religious unity was not merely an incidental aspect of the document but rather its core essence.
2. The topics addressed in the document revolve around two main principles:
- Engaging with other religions without compromising doctrinal distinction.
- Recognising various sects, including the Ja‘fari, Ibadi, and Zaidi schools, among others.
The document then discusses the supposed benefits of these principles within the Muslim society, such as rejecting extremism and preserving security.
Therefore, praising this document inevitably implies approval of these two principles, without a doubt.
3. Scholars and Du'aat are obligated to clarify errors in any statement they choose to acknowledge or commend. If a statement is ambiguous and could lead to misguidance, it is their duty to highlight this. How much more so when the statement explicitly promotes falsehood?
In fact, Al-Halabi published his sermon praising the Amman Message twice, proudly highlighting both his sermon and his commendation of the message.
4. Al-Halabi also praised the book "Ijma' Al-Muslimeen fi Ihtiram Madhahib Al-Deen" and quoted from it, despite the fact that the book is essentially a reference based on the Amman Message, its three main points, and the complete list of signatories to these three points, as stated by its author.
5. His participation in a national conference where they endorsed the call for the unity of religions, and his signing of its final statement.
6. How can someone affiliated with the Salafi dawah justify praising a document that was overseen by leading figures of misguidance in our time, such as Sistani and Al-Qaradawi? Would such praise not serve as an endorsement of these figures and their deviations?
Al-Halabi should have explicitly identified the falsehood within this document and renounced it. It is insufficient for him to simply publish articles disavowing the concept of religious unity. As our scholars have established regarding repentance from innovation, a mere general retraction is not enough. Many people, particularly Al-Halabi’s followers, praised the Amman Message solely because of his endorsement.
2⃣. His beliefs regarding Eman aligns with the creed of the deviant Murji'ah sect, as stated by the scholars of the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas.
