Supporting Gaza Through Proper and Trustworthy Means

Question: Is it permissible to donate to Gaza and collect funds through people there? Also, is it permissible to collect zakat for Gaza? Please advise Us. May Allāh reward you.
Sheikh Muhammad Al-’Ansi hafidahullah responds:
If the donated money will truly reach the needy through trustworthy individuals and will be delivered to the displaced and impoverished, then this is from cooperation, alleviating hardship from a Muslim and reducing their difficulty and calamity that has befallen them. And this is from the rights of a Muslims upon other Muslim, and doing so is commendable.
However, one should not wish/desire to collect funds, but they should merely remind and direct generous people to donate towards the cause, without fundraising in the masājid, nor should people go door-to-door or visit businesses to solicit donations, as Allāh has not obligated us to do so.
If there is a truly secure and reliable means to ensure the money reaches those in need, then people should be encouraged to donate. However, charity organisations, Rafidha, political groups—exploit the name of Gaza for personal gain. They use fundraising as a means of financial exploitation while preventing good...
Helping the people of Gaza, particularly the displaced and needy, is indeed a worthy cause, but it must be done through proper and trustworthy channels.
