BENEFIT 356: Engaging in sinful acts to promote the Da’wah

Sheikh Ibn ’Uthaymeen (may Allāh have mercy on him) strikes the following example: "If there is a military camp or any other field that lacks righteous individuals/reformers who teach people the rulings of their religion, and working in this place is only allowed for those who shave their beards, should I shave my beard and engage in da'wah in this environment, or should I completely avoid it? Avoid it completely, because Allāh the Almighty says: {It is not upon you [O Prophet] to guide them, but Allāh guides whom He wills} [Al-Baqarah: 272]. And He also says: {Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction} [An-Nahl: 125]. One cannot call to Allāh through disobedience under any circumstance(1). If you shave your beard, you have fallen into sin, and their guidance is not your responsibility. Furthermore, you may shave your beard thinking it serves a definite benefit, but that benefit may not be realised. Instead, a definite harm would result, while the perceived benefit remains indefinite." [Sharh Mandhumat Usul Al-Fiqh wa Qawa'idihi] ____ (1) Similarly, establishing a charity organisation is not possible without engaging in sin, even if it merely involves submitting to man-made laws and democratic systems. As is well known, one cannot establish such an organisation without agreeing to adhere to these requirements and operate within the framework of democratic systems, not to mention the other issues highlighted by scholars. https://t.me/madrasatuna/4772 https://t.me/madrasatuna/2758
