The Prophet ﷺ continued saying: "There is no goodness except that of the Hereafter, O Allāh! So please forgive the Anṣār and the Muhājirūn." [Reported by Bukhar

In another wording in Bukhāri:
وَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْقُلُ مَعَهُمُ اللَّبِنَ فِي بُنْيَانِهِ.
"The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ continued to carry the bricks with them in the construction of the masjid."
Ibn Ḥajar, may Allāh have mercy on him, explained this in Fat-ḥ al-Bari(1/526): "His statement: 'ثَامِنُونِي' with the letter 'th' means 'tell me its price so I can tell you the price I have chosen.' He said this as part of a negotiation, as though he was saying: 'Negotiate with me on the price.' Their statement: 'We do not ask for its price except from Allāh' means that they are not asking for the price, but rather the matter lies with Allāh."
I (Abu Bakr Al-Hammadi) say: This reflects the Prophet’s ﷺ chastity when constructing his masjid, as he did not wish to acquire the land from them except at a fair price. His chastity in constructing his masjid also showed that he did not make extravagant efforts in its construction.
Reflect on this and the situation of many people today: when they wish to build a masjid, they often go BEYOND their means in constructing it, continuing to gather DONATIONS from one place to another to complete the project. This is not the way of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
Furthermore, Ibn Muflih, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Al-Ādāb Ash-Shar'iyyah (2/172):
"Section: Regarding the Ṭabaqah of Qāḍhi Abul-Husayn Zuhayr ibn Abi Zuhayr, who reported from our Imam, some of which are as follows:
He said: 'I told Ahmad that so-and-so, meaning Abu Yusuf, sometimes goes around pursuing matters like the construction of masajid, water mills, and wells.' Ahmad replied: 'No, no, preserving his soul is more deserving.' He disliked that a man should degrade himself and his soul in such matters.' Al-Khallāl also mentioned this, and Abu Yusuf is Ghassooli."
Reflect on how Imam Ahmad, may Allāh have mercy on him, disliked for a person to demean himself by collecting money for the construction of masājid, water mills, and wells, as this could degrade and humiliate one's soul by begging.
Furthermore, a person could remain under suspicion. How many times has someone gathered money for good causes, such as building masājid, only for people to say when he builds a house or buys a car with his own money: "This was from the money he collected." Safety lies in following the guidance of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and this path was followed by the noble predecessors, may Allāh have mercy on them.

Advice 4: As students of knowledge, your goal is to acquire beneficial knowledge and share it with those around you. This pursuit should continue regardless of whether a centre or masjid is available.
