The Virtue of Cautioning Others Against Mistakes
Question: May Allāh reward you with goodness. A questioner asks: Is it appropriate for a student of knowledge to track the mistakes of certain preachers, compile them, and release them in recordings—dedicating a separate recording to each preacher to highlight their mistakes and lapses? Is this considered a correct approach?
Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan hafidahullah:
If the intention behind this is to clarify the truth and distinguish between right and wrong, then this is commendable. Calling to Allāh involves pointing out mistakes so that people do not fall into them. However, if the intention is personal desire, seeking to take pleasure in exposing others, or belittling individuals, then this is impermissible. This is not allowed. Yes.
