Question: May Allāh reward you with goodness! A questioner inquires: Is it appropriate for a student of knowledge to track the errors of certain preachers, compile them, and release them in recordings—each recording dedicated to highlighting the mistakes and slips of that preacher? Is this approach in accordance with the correct methodology?"
Sheikh Al-Fawzan (may Allāh preserve him) answers:
"If the intention behind this is to clarify the truth and distinguish right from wrong, then this is commendable and falls within the framework of calling to Allāh. It is important to highlight mistakes so that people do not fall into them.
However, if the intention is personal desire, vindictiveness, or belittling individuals, then this is impermissible—this is impermissible. Yes."
