BENEFIT 334: Remaining silent in clarifying the truth during times of fitnah can make things worse

Sheikh Uthaymeen raḥimahullāh said: What I believe during times of trials is that du’aat should focus their efforts on calling to the truth. Anyone who claims that the Da'wah should cease during times of fitnah, the fitnah will only intensify. I believe that a person should defend the truth but not attack. Defend, but do not attack, for attacking may lead to friction, as the Āyah states (interpreted meaning): "Do not insult those who invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in hostility without knowledge." Rather, one should clarify the truth, call to it, and present it to people in a positive light. We should, in-sha-Allah, be committed to speaking the truth.
