Sheikh Fawzān hafidahullah says:

"...It is incumbent upon the brothers in this case; when students of knowledge become alienated, they insult insult one another, have animosity towards one another, it is incumbent upon the people of goodness amongst the students of knowledge to reconcile between those who are estranged among fellow students of knowledge. They are the most deserving of fostering connections. How can there be estrangement and animosity among students of knowledge?! If students of knowledge themselves harbour discord, who will then resolve conflicts among others?! If salt becomes corrupt, what can rectify it? If the students of knowledge are corrupted, who will bring about reform among the people? Reconciliation among brothers is a duty, as is rectifying disputes, especially when they arise among students of knowledge, scholars, and their students. As for inciting discord, which is a regrettable reality; actively provoking conflicts between students of knowledge, scholars, and their students, this is forbidden and amounts to tale-carrying (nameemah)...These individuals exploit media tools, recording and manipulating incomplete statements to misrepresent the intended meaning of scholars or students of knowledge. Such actions sow discord, spread corruption, and undermine unity among Muslims. These agitators deserve to be restrained, as their actions harm relationships among Muslims, scholars, and students of knowledge alike. They create divisions among Muslims in general, disrupting harmony within the community. We ask Allah for safety and well-being." [end of speech] Sheikh Saleem Al-Hilali hafidahullah comments: Indeed, I have heard a noble statement from Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allāh preserve him, urging students of knowledge, scholars, and preachers to reconcile their differences, rise above trivial matters that divide them, and restrain those who incite discord. Sheikh Salih emphasised the dangerous practices of these agitators, who deliberately misquote and distort statements to create enmity between individuals, spreading rumours and lies that contradict the original meaning intended by the speaker. May Allāh deal with them justly and not with bounty. I echo Sheikh Salih’s advice and add another point: students of knowledge, preachers, and scholars must be cautious about the company they keep. Every individual, whether a scholar, preacher, or student of knowledge—even prophets and rulers—has two types of companions: one who encourages good and another who incites evil, as mentioned in the authentic hadith. The companion who carries tales, spreads gossip, and sows discord is among the evil company. Such individuals must be admonished, distanced, and not given importance to prevent their mischief. Unfortunately, some students of knowledge, due to their closeness to scholars, misrepresent the scholars’ words. They claim, "The scholar said such and such about so-and-so," when in reality, the scholar said no such thing. They exploit their access to the scholar, falsely presenting themselves as the scholar’s voice. This leads to discord between the scholar and their peers, their students, and even among the students themselves, allowing such individuals to dominate the sphere of corruption. This advice from Sheikh Salih should be a guiding light for scholars, students, and preachers, encouraging unity among themselves and fostering strong ties between scholars and their students. If you hear something distressing about a fellow student, do not speak ill of them. Instead, approach them directly and verify the matter. They may have a valid excuse or offer an apology. Always strive for reconciliation and be a source of goodness, closing the doors to evil. We beseech Allah to reconcile our affairs, unify our words, strengthen our bonds, and grant success to our call to righteousness. May He deal with those who harm us, our scholars, and our preachers, and who seek to sow discord among us. O Allah, have mercy on our parents, our scholars, and all who have rights over us.
