BENEFIT 302: Beware of Sayyid Quṭb and his works, particularly 'In the Shade of the Qur'an' في ظلال القرآن

Question: May Allāh reward you with goodness. Your Eminence, you mentioned in your discussion on Tafsir of 'Fi dhilal al-Qur'an' by Sayyid Qutb that it contains serious deviations regarding the Tawheed of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and a distortion of the objectives of the Shari'ah. What is the ruling on reading this book or teaching it to others? Sheikh ’Abdullah ibn Salih Al-’Ubaylan This is a betrayal of Allāh and His Messenger. I referred to Sayyid Qutb, of course. Brothers, intentions are known only to Allāh; we do not judge the intentions of people. However, we are accountable only for what has been written. I called him "the Samiri of this era." Why? Because I found that some people, who had been raised upon Tawheed, deviated from it after reading his book. Therefore, it is impermissible to read this book. In fact, in my view, it is more dangerous in our time than reading Az-Zamakhshari's Tafsir or similar works. Why? Because of the grave harms and consequences that result from it.
