Benefit 38: Who are the Ḥaddādiyyah and what are some of their prominent traits?

25 November 2023 • 1.6K views
● "Al-Ḥaddādiyyah" is an ascription to the Egyptian, Maḥmūd Aḥmad Al-Ḥaddād. ● It is a contemporary sect which extends ideologically from the Takfīrī groups. ● It is an extremist sect which falsely ascribes itself to Salafiyyah. Their most prominent traits are: ● They declare great scholars who fell into some mistakes to be innovators, such as Al-Ḥāfidh [ibn Ḥajar], An-Nawawi, Ash-Shawkāni and the likes, and they even went as far as burning their books. ● They squander the efforts of such scholars due to the mistakes they fell into. ● They make it forbidden to seek mercy for any Muslim who falls into innovation. ● They go to extremes in the affairs of Tadbī’ (excommunicating people from Salafiyyah) and passing judgments on violators. Note: Whoever is free of these traits or some of them, it is not valid to label them as a Ḥaddādi, as it has become commonplace to throw around this label and attach it to anyone who opposes them.
