[Q&A session from Sharḥ Mandhumat Al-Ādāb, Tape 33] 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗸𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝗾𝗯𝗶𝗹'𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: قال الإمام مقبل الوادعي :رحمه الله - «الذي أنصح به إخواننا بالجد والاجتهاد في تحصيل العلم النافع وأن لا يشغلوا أنفسهم بما لا يعنيهم، فهذا الاختلاف وهذه الفرقة ناشئة عن فراغ، والشيخ فلاني المصيب والشيخ الفلاني المخطئ! والشيخ فلان لا يؤخذ عنه العلم، والشيخ فلان كذا وكذا! فأنا أقول: يجب أن تحدثك نفسك أن تكون مثل الشيخ الفلاني أو أحسن». "غارة الأشرطة" (2/103). Imam Muqbil Al-Waadi’ee, May Allāh have mercy on him, said: “What I advise our brothers with is to strive and work hard in acquiring beneficial knowledge and not to occupy themselves with what does not concern them. This differing and disunity comes from free-time/inactivity; Sheikh Fulan is right and Sheikh Fulan is wrong! Knowledge is not to be sought from Sheikh so-and-so, and Sheikh so-and-so is such-and-such! I say: You must inspire yourself to be like Sheikh Fulan or better. [Ghaarat Al-Ashriṭah (2/103)] وقال رحمه الله: «ثم إنني أنصح طلبة العلم بالإقبال الكلي على طلب العلم وعدم الالتفات إلى هذه الأمور التي ليست بضائرة، فلا تشغل نفسك بالتعصب لفلان ولا التعصب لفلان، بل أقبل على طلب العلم، ففي: ذات مرة كتب إلي أخ من (مكة) وقال لي: إن الحزبية استفحلت عندنا فماذا أعمل؟ فنصحته وقلت له: أقبل إقبالا كليا على طلب العلم ولا تلتفت إلى هذه الأمور، وكان متألما من وضعهم ويريد أن يرد عليهم، فقلت له: لا تشغل نفسك بالردود عليهم فأنت طالب علم تحتاج إلى التزود من العلم، وإذا شغلت نفسك في هذا تشغل عن حفظ القرآن وعن تحصيل العلم النافع، فلا تشغل نفسك بهذا وأقبل إقبالا كليا على تحصيل العلم النافع». "غارة الأشرطة" (1/74) And he, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: “Then I advise students of knowledge to dedicate themselves fully to seeking knowledge and not to pay attention to these matters that are not [important]. Do not busy yourself with fanaticism for so-and-so and fanaticism for so-and-so, but rather turn your attention to seeking knowledge. On one occasion, a brother wrote to me from Makkah and he said to me: Hizbiyyah has become rampant over here, so what should I do? I advised him and said to him: dedicate yourself fully to seeking knowledge and do not pay attention to these matters, and he was aching from their situation and wanted to refute them, so I said to him: Do not busy yourself with refuting them. You are a student of knowledge and you need to increase in knowledge, but if you occupy yourself with this, you will become distracted from memorising the Qur’an and acquiring beneficial knowledge. Do not occupy yourself with this, but rather dedicate yourself fully to acquiring beneficial knowledge.” [Ghaarat Al-Ashriṭah (1/74)] وقال رحمه الله: «المبتدعة لا تهتموا بهم ويشغلوكم عن طلب العلم، تكفيهم لطمة على الطريق، إذا سجلت شريطا أو في درس أو في غيرها وإلا ركضة أو نطحة أو غير ذلك. ولا تشغل نفسك بهم جزاك الله خيزا، نحن نعدك إلى أن تكون مرجعا للمسلمين، إلى أن تكون مؤلفا، إلى أن تكون داعيا إلى الله، فهذه هي وظيفة الأنبياء، ما نعدك فقط للرد على الإخوان المسلمين وأصحاب جمعية الحكمة، ومن أصحاب جمعية الحكمة؟! حتى أننا نتشاغل بهم!». "تحفة المجيب" (ص332). And he, may Allāh have mercy on him, said: “Don't focus on the innovators such that they distract you from seeking knowledge. It's enough to give them a slap on the way (figurative); by releasing a tape, or during the class, etc...Do not busy yourself with them, may Allāh reward you all with good. We are preparing you in order that you become a reference point for the Muslims, that you become an author, that you become a caller to Allāh; for, this is the role of the Prophets.
