BENEFIT 281: Boycotting Relatives And Common Folk

8 November 2024 • 1.48K views
Question: Is it permissible to boycott a close relative if they are a person of innovation? Sheikh Abdulhameed Az-Zu'kari ḥafidhahullāh: Yes, they are to be boycotted, with the exception of the mother and father, and grandmother and grandfather. The people of innovation WHO ACTIVELY PROMOTE INNOVATIONS are to be boycotted. As for the common people, they are treated with kindness and compassion. They don't understand the concept of boycotting; it’s like the saying, “You close (the masjid) so I give up (prayer).” Someone went to pray at a masjid and found it closed, so they said, “You close (the masjid) so I give up (prayer).” When some common people are boycotted they adhere to this concept; they often do not understand why they are being boycotted or why they are being brought close. Thus, one should treat them with compassion and kindness.
