BENEFIT 276: "The prohibition of Tasweer is applicable only to those one who create them— not those who merely look at them," is this statement correct?

Sheikh Abdulhameed Az-Zu'kari ḥafidhahullāh:
This is not in the absolute sense! If the images are of women, it is not permissible to look at them. Similarly, it is not permissible to look at images of young, beardless boys (murdan), according to the view of the pious predecessors and As-habul hadith, due to the fitnah such images may provoke.
If the images are incidental, it is advisable to avoid them. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image." It is also impermissible to remain in front of the television or satellite channels under the pretext that we are not the ones producing these images. Such an approach leads to endorsement of falsehood, deceives the general public, go along to their views, and leads to fitnah. And Allāh is the one whose help we seek.
