BENEFIT 274: Sheikh Abdulhameed Disciplines The Questioner for "Nitpicking"(1)

7 November 2024 • 1.37K views
He says, "Why doesn't Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan dye his beard?" Sheikh: Is dyeing the beard obligatory? It is not obligatory. In fact, some scholars say that the Prophet ﷺ did not dye [his hair]. What is the matter with you may Allāh guide you? If you wish to criticise, then criticise something that actually contradicts the Sharī‘ah, not something that does not contradict it. Allāh alone knows what is in your heart towards Al-Fawzan over this issue. He says, "Why did he claim that he doesn’t know Sheikh Yahya while he heard from him?" Sheikh: Maybe he said that before he met him, or he may have forgotten, as he is close to ninety years old. The fact that he has heard only good things about him, merits praising Allāh. He says, "Why does Al-Fawzan appear on TV programmes?" Sheikh: He was asked, 'Sheikh, do you allow yourself to be filmed?' and he responded, 'Never, never. I do not film myself nor have I invited anyone to film me. Whoever has filmed me, I do not forgive them.' This is his stance. His appearance on such programmes does not imply that he permits image-taking. May Allāh bless you. We should purify our hearts toward our scholars and supplicate for good for them. If one of them makes a slip, we ask Allāh to pardon him. If they are correct, they earn two rewards, and if they err, they earn one. There is no scholar except that he is right and sometimes wrong, he knows and is sometimes ignorant. May Allāh bless you all. It is possible that the questioner wanted for Sheikh Fawzan to criticise Sheikh Yahya. Praise be to Allāh that he did not criticise him. Some questions are asked with an intent to draw a disparagement. We ask Allāh for safety and well-being. ___ (1) The finding or pointing out of minor faults in a fussy or pedantic way
