BENEFIT 32: The difference between accepting the truth Vs. seeking the truth

Sheikh Abū Bilāl ḥafidhahullāh said: “If the truth comes to you, you must accept it no matter who it comes from. But in terms of seeking the truth, then this is only sought from Ahlus-Sunnah.”
What is the proof?
{وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفۡـِٔدَتَهُمۡ وَأَبۡصَـٰرَهُمۡ كَمَا لَمۡ یُؤۡمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦۤ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةࣲ وَنَذَرُهُمۡ فِی طُغۡیَـٰنِهِمۡ یَعۡمَهُونَ}
“We shall turn their hearts and eyes away ˹from the truth˺ since they refused to believe in it the first time, and We will leave them to wander blindly in their defiance.” [Sūrah Al-An‘ām 110]
Similarly, it is reported on the authority of Qutailah raḍhiyallāhu 'anhu that a Jewish man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said to him: “Verily, you (Muslims) commit Shirk, for you say:
ما شاء الله وشئت
“As Allāh Wills and as you will;” and you say: “By the Ka'bah!” So the Prophet ﷺ ordered whoever wanted to swear, to say:
ورب الكعبة
"By the Lord of the Ka'bah!"
and to say:
ما شاء الله ثم شئت
"As Allāh Wills, then as you will."
[Narrated by An-Nasā`i, who said that it is authentic]
Ref: Kitāb At-Tawḥīd, Chapter: 42 - Saying: "As Allāh Wills and You Will"]
It is important to know this as you may here some people say that it's okay to study under the people of innovation, because Shayṭān taught Abū Hurairah raḍhiyallāhu ’anhu to recite Āyatul Kursi before going to sleep, etc.

However, did Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu anhu intentionally go and sit with this Shaytan in order to attain this piece of knowledge or did the Shaytan come to him?
Also, did Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu anhu accept it immediately or did he go and confirm it with the Prophet ﷺ?
Sheikh 'Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh said: “We see that a person does not study with the people of innovation and desires at all, even if he cannot find knowledge of Arabic, rhetoric, and morphology except with them, surely Allāh will replace him with better, because if we continue sitting and studying with them, there is no doubt that they will become arrogant and deluded, and people will also be deceived by them.” [Explanation of Ḥilyah Ṭālib Al-ilm P. 90]
